H) (Patrick G. and Jason W.) You are in a one-computer classroom. Your computer has Internet access. You have a video camera. Your computer has Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and Movie Maker. You do not have an LCD projector, screen, printer, or TV. There is no computer lab in the school. All classrooms have the same equipment available.

  • Split the 30 kids into 5 groups of 6.
  • The kids will have 6 Stations/Assignments to rotate around.

  • First Station - Read about tornadoes, such as How they form, What causes a tornado, How to prepare for one, etc..
  • Second Station - Draw pictures that relate to the information they read about
  • Third Station - Create a table to replicate the Fujita scale
  • Fourth Station - Write & practice script for Interview & broadcast
  • Fifth Station - Record interview with survivor & broadcast with the video camer. Include the scale, Pictures & anything else done in previous stations.
  • Sixth Station - On the computer upload the video to Movie Maker to edit the final cut. Also, send a copy of the video to my E-mail & upload it to YouTube.

  • I'd have all the kids in the group sit at any station 1-4. I'd give them no more than 10 minutes a station, but I wouldn't have them actually physically get up for them. They can do assigments one through four sitting at their desks as a group.
  • Then once a group is finished, (which could be a different time for every group, depending on how fast they work) I'd have them go to staion five to record the broadcast & interview then have them move onto station six for the final cuts & editing.
